two quick questions (totally neutral)

I just want to ask:

1. Throughout history have two different cultures every existed side by side for any length of time with no conflict?

2. Do the benefits of multiculturism outweigh the costs?

Just interested what you thought as you seem very certain that multiculturism is a good thing. I'm not saying it is or isn't.
