Loved home fireworks, my father always did the fireworks for the village (old Costessey)..
back in the day, used to be at St Augustines, the amount of times he nearly set himself on fire! The Scruttons had a Newsagent at the Larkman (bet nobody remembers the Newsagent!) and could get fairly good fireworks. Never forget the smell on firework night, always remember my father going back to a Cathreien wheel nailed to the tree only for it to go off and burning all the way through his jumper and my mother half laughing yet running over!! Father making fun of it all. Not sure with health and safety, Costessey the church or the school would be allowed these days. Chestnuts.
