I don't want to sound smug, but I did tell you guys that Bunn is a good keeper
when mentioning his performances for Blackburn at Anfield and Old Trafford last season when Rovers picked up 4 points. I really don't think that we could realistically have a better reserve keeper.
If we sell Ruddy or lose him to injury we have an excellent replacement in waiting. Good job too, because Rudd doesn't convince me. He's weak in the box, often gets beaten at the near post and has an inconsistent kick. Steer doesn't look ready yet either.
It's a good job that he was on his game because Spurs kept finding a way behind our full backs who were both poor defensively tonight, although Whittaker was classy on the ball. I cringed at that tackle from Tierney, did he not learn anything from Drury about defending in one on ones?
Alex Tettey would be playing for a top team if his touch was better, it's the only thing that really lets him down aside from the odd comedy moment. It's great to have a high class athlete of a midfielder who can stride away from other player's attempts to tackle. He's a real box to box man who should add a lot of goals to the team just through his presence, rebounds will be a good source of ghouls for Norwich this year.
Howson looked a lot better when allowed to roam forward, something that Hughton's late substitutions enabled. I really don't want to see him sitting infront of our back four anymore.
Speaking of Hoot's subs, credit must be given to the man who has previously been criticised for only swapping like for like. His tactical changes and replacements won us the game. He has also achieved something that 'he who should not be spoken of' could not fulfill, a decent NCFC cup run. Well done sir.
On the other hand, ABV's dreadful late tactical switch lost the game for Spurs in the sense that it invited Hughton to make a bold change. If Spurs didn't swap a midfielder for a defender then I'm not sure that we would all be so happy tonight. The sub Vertonghen (spelling?) also scored the equalising og which only compounded the daft pressure inviting switch. If Spurs were higher up the pitch would they have even got into the succession of set piece situations which became their ultimate downfall? Whatever the case may be, it seems that Hughton has worked AVB out.
So that's 2 wins and a draw from our last 3 games with Tottenham. This club really has progressed over the past three and a half years.
OTBC.
