Why is everyone taking the Savile allegations seriously only now?

Be honest we've *all* know about them for *years*. If someone had acted earlier, a) justice might have been served and b) it might have stopped others getting hurt by him. I guess it's good if the whole thing leads to cultural change within the BBC or makes it easier for people to speak out but it all feels too late somehow.
