No point in wasting time exchanging emails with people who might eventually suss you out after a couple of emails so best to cut to the chase with as big a bulls**t story as you can think of to weed out anyone with half a brain cell.

That's the theory, although does tend to give the fraudsters perhaps more credit than is due.
