You are right. The team smacked of being more concerned about them than playing our own game. Howson also made some very telling comments about how in training they had prepared for Liverpool to have large amounts of possession. I read those comments as almost an admission that we didn't feel we were going to be able to impose our own style on the game which is how it panned out.

I was staggered at Wes being left out and i am also finding the continued selection of Surman slightly baffling (although I must confess i don't know whether Pilks was fit?). He's a good player but not sure he offers us quite enough either in attack or defence.
