I think it more simple than that...

We reached our peak, there is no way he could replicate last season's performance, this season...plus we got very lucky with injuries and suspensions.

The villa job was only going to be good for him. A team that couldn't possibly play any worse, the only way was up. A club that was bigger than City and was at a low. Lambert will turn them around once he gets his ideas across. Thanks and good luck.
