Firstly, the Club will not respond to some of the childish and inaccurate tripe being circulated about Leon.
Secondly, Leon injured his ankle, he had an exploratory operation on it, and now thankfully his latest visit to a specialist has confirmed he doesn't need any further surgery.
For goodness sake, there's someone on this thread saying they've seen Leon hobbling around on crutches and yet there's still someone else saying the whole thing is some kind of Byzantine club cover up.
As if a) Leon would hobble around on clutches for ages to perpetuate some kind of bizarre cover-up and b) we could be bothered to suggest he should!
Leon's a loyal and tremendously hard-working player for this Football Club who is desperate to get back into first team contention as soon as is possible. Anybody who knows Leon knows that is the case. It's a shame some supporters seem to so readily believe malicious pub gossip.
At one stage I actually picked up a call on my mobile from someone claiming 'they knew for a fact' Leon was in Bedford Prison when he was 'in fact' talking to Darren Huckerby about three feet away from me!
I for one hope Leon's back asap. For people to blithely dismiss the talents of someone who scored the first goal in more than 1000 minutes against Peter Cech and also netted against Manchester United seems a bit harsh to me. He also, I would suggest, deserves additional credit for his part in helping Dean Ashton to enjoy a successful start to his City career.
Thanks,
Joe"
And
"AJ - I'm calm! I'm not sure an exact number of weeks before Leon could potentially return to training has been given. Sometimes those kind of proclamations can come back to haunt you if for whatever reason the player does not make it back in the time stated.
I understand however that if the specialist had decided he needed a further op then he could well have been out until well into 2006.
I will see if Nigel or Neal Reynolds is able to give us a rough timetable for Leon's return.
Thanks
Joe"
The first paragraph says it all.
