Thoughts on yesterday
The overwhelming positive from yesterday is that defensively we looked good, better than we have in ages. Bassong been an excellent acquisition.
In the first twenty minutes or so the midfield looked fantastic with their passing and movement then suddenly, Johnson starts passing the ball to the opposition. Then Howson went missing. Snodgrass did some excellent work without the ball but as soon as he got it refused to even contemplate letting it go anywhere near his right foot (shooting with the outside of his left foot is always going to take the ball away from goal when playing on right) and Howson just disappeared.
Jackson looked a threat and Holt largely a lumbering leviathan (even seems to have lost the will to chase the ball down and win it back.
Hughton does not appear to have the ability to change tactics, merely to replace like with like as a plan B and this is a worry. Need to look at fitting Wes in somehow just so we have someone to get their foot on the ball and pick passes. This Jury still out on CH at this moment in time.
