Thats correct although I guess one could take the view that

having adopted them, brought them up and funded them presumably through school, university and until they were set up in comfortable homes that he has been pretty good to those children!

All seems a little bit money grabbing to me when he had made it so clear he wanted his companion to have the villa but then maybe they felt she got him to write that letter under duress or influenced him unduly in some way.
