Mrs KC was at a national U10?s tournament last year, where the top 16 boys and girls were playing. I think there was also an U12?s tournament there that week.

So 64 of the best young prospects in the country.

She and another Mum got talking to one of the coaches who, a few years ago was involved with one the very best girls in the world when she was a junior, and asked if any of the assembled talent on show had a chance of making it as a top pro (not world no 1, just playing grand slams).

This coach?s opinion was that none of them had a remote chance and they were already nowhere near the required standard at their age.

Sad but true.
