not quite true.....

all depends on local RoE and what the mission is..... for example the SAS and the famous Iranian Embassey siege was about hostage retrieval.... Same as a few aircraft hi-jackings they were involved in (but werent publicised at the time)..... The bin laden operation was clearly directed to kill and despose of..... No show trial, no execution, no martyrdom, get it done and dusted.
