did you know that we've all been programmed to buy only red steak?

I can't link to this as it was something I read a long time ago, on the subject of how marketers program people to buy things. Our parents expected steak to be brown, and apples to be red or golden, but a few decades of marketing has led us to expect red steak and green apples.

Supermarkets give fruit growers colour charts, and expect their produce to fall within certain pantone ranges. Ever wondered why Golden Delicious apples are so called, when they're green and a bit watery? it's because the good ones aren't green so the supermarkets won't buy them.

And so on.
