Just watched the friendly highlights - foo thoughts
1. Its only a friendly so can't really read anything into it; BUT
2. That first half defence was shocking and that line up is clearly not good enough for the prem. Whilst I think that Hughton is a good manager and we will be fine post Lambert I do think that our challenge this season will be that we won;t continue to get away with playing the likes of Ward and Lappin on a regular basis so we really need to bring in that quality (and preferably pacey) centre back and left back)
3. We basically gifted them their goals but created quite a lot ourselves - a familar story.
4. Vaughan looks slimmer and quicker than when i saw him play last season. Perhaps partly due to the opposition but he does look like he;s worked hard over the summer. Having seen that game I would not not be in favour of loaning him out and think its worth giving him a chance at the start of the season. Should have bagged a hat-trick though as missed an absolute sitter of a header right at the end.
5.Very harsh penalty. I think Ayala is class and will be great for us but he does need to cut out the grappling. Always got a pen or a rash tackle in him i feel. Thats the challenge for the coaching staff.
6. C Martin is still a magnificently dirty b**tard. Gets himself involved/worsens unecessarily a flare up which nearly turns into a mass brawl and then forces one of their players off injured after blatantly doing him with a stamp after the ball has gone. Never seen a player get away with so many little off the ball incidents as he does. I know I shouldn;t but I love his c**tery.
7. Korey looked sharp. Wouldn't surprise me if he is in and around the squad at the start of the season as i bet he is the type of player that impresses a lot in training and pre-season games.
8. That Welsh guy on Canariesworld's commentary is comically bad!
Quite a fiesty game which by the end (after a series of little incidents) both sides were clearly taking quite seriously.
Anyway onwards to celtic but this week i want to see us stop p*ssing around and sign the Snod, a centre back and a left back. Time to stop being skinflints and just get some deals done.
