Yes 1989. Final stage into Paris was an individual Time trial. Lauren Fignon (French hero)
Was in Yellow at the start of the day. Greg Lemond (USA) was 2nd on GC and had to beat Fignon in the timetrial by enough time to take the yellow jersey.
Lemond turned up with Triathlon bars on his bike (1st time seen in TDF) and set the fastest time. Fignon wearing yellow then had to beat it. He failed and Lemond won the TDF on the last day by just a few seconds.
One of the alltime great sporting finishes. Up there with Aguerro 2012, Michae' Thomas 89 and Man Utd champs league.
