Instead of doing himself no favours at all, he should concentrate on being

fitter than he's ever been in the first few games, then he can regain the trust fully

Otherwise, when he's backing into a good defender and not winning one freekick all game, to the point where he gets booked for bad mouthing an official.....

Then he'll probably "get the reception he deserves"
