I agree with you on that

all either rich ex city types or straight from running the student union to the House of Commons via a few back office jobs in some MP's parliamentary office, often lined up for them by their parents.

People slag of the House of Lords and the hereditary peers system and obviously it is a privilieged institution but at least they are awkward old b**gers who are prepared to cause trouble if they don't like a piece of legislation. If that becomes elected as well it will just be completely worthless.
