but I am pretty sure he managed Bristol Roves for 18 months or so and also managed the Welsh National team for 1 match before heading north.

I seem to remember seeing him at a Crewe v Millwall match in the early 90's when he was doing some scouting. A match in which both Danny Murphy and Robbie Savage were playing for Crewe. We did suggest that NCFC should keep an eye on these 2 players as they looked to have the pedigree to be very good players!!
