managers - a total lottery
It?s really interesting to hear all the names being mentioned as a replacement for Worthington (who I feel has to go anyway) and the majority of posts hoping we go for an experienced manager. Worthington himself certainly wouldn?t have fitted the overall criteria when he was appointed.
Nobody on here would have put any money on Megson taking Albion up (twice), would they! Last season we were all happy when they appointed Robson who we thought would be the kiss of death and take them down.
Stuart Pearce seems to be doing quite nicely at Man City and he had no experience prior to taking over.
Paul Sturrock had a good track record at St Johnstone then didn?t do very well at Dundee Utd before joining Plymouth but then failed at Southampton and has now done quite well at Sheffield Wednesday.
Ronnie Moore did very well at Rotherham and was always mentioned when a vacancy came up ? he?s now an also ran at Oldham.
Brian Talbot did wonders at Rushden but not at Oldham and now Oxford.
The list is endless but what I think it proves is that apart from a very small number of top bosses the majority just float from club to club and hope that they get it right at some point. We have just got to hope that whoever we appoint gets it right at Carrow Road.
