Did Villa write to NCFC seeking permission to talk PL first or did NCFC write to Villa saying "hands off"?
Whichever there is no way the Board could say yes to Villa as they would be accused by the fans of lacking ambition so it was either upset Lambert or upset the fans.
Likewise there was no way they could accept his resignation for the same reason.
I think the Board (or at least Chairman, and CEO) come out of this well.
