Not saying it has but my view (for what its worth) is that
Had Villa made Lambert their number one target and approached him at the start of the summer I think Paul lambert would probably be their manager by now. I accept that agents job is to tout their clients around for jobs but they don;t do it without at least some consultation with their clients first. The fact that several newspapers seemed to have been fed the line that Lambo was keen worried me.
Instead, however, Villa have clearly courted/spoken to/approached other managers and do not appear to have approached us at all. This suggests that if he is on their list then he is not first choice and is maybe being seen as a fallback option if Martinez or OGS won;t take the job. I am not sure Lambo will like that and it may explain why he went from his earlier very non committal comments after the Villa game to the (still not fully committal but) more robust recent statements to the press about how he's never looked to leave and loves it with us.
Thats my take on it anyway. May be right, may be wrong!
