There?s a handful of dance clubs worth dipping a toe into, but nothing to get very excited about ? Lausanne and Z?rich are where top DJs tout their wares. Geneva suffers from a surfeit of expense accounts, and often you?ll find that places billing themselves as discoth?ques turn out to enforce a smart-casual door policy for entry to a deeply depressing floorshow (occasionally nude dancing girls) and/or Top 40 disco. The following are the best of an uninspiring bunch. Note that although a few places open during the week, weekend nights (generally 10pm?5am) are more likely to be worthwhile. Entry is usually Fr.10?15.
L?Abag, 10 Rue des Vieux-Grenadiers. Salsa club in the courtyard of MAMCO.
L?Interdit, 18 Quai de Seujet. Pumping and hugely popular disco cavern, sharing its clientele and energy with the Loft next door (see ?Gay and Lesbian? box).
La Pirogue, 4 Ruelle des Templiers. Reggae and African beats.
Power, 12 bis Passage Malbuisson. Techno-free funk, house and jungle.
R?ve d?O, 19 Rue de la Coulouvreni?re. Exposed-metal interior of an old riverfront warehouse vibrates nightly to hardcore techno, with occasional forays into drum?n?bass and triphop. Free entry.
Aren't I mr helpful today. Probably because I've already hit the beer to drown the sorrows.
