Because it's a free-market economy
Footballers are far more skilled than nurses. In this country let's say there's 500 footballers able to earn 20k a week or more, let's put that into context.
There are 400,000 nurses in the UK
There are around 4,500 professional footballers
It is much, much more difficult to break into even the lowest paid forms of professional football than it is to become a nurse.
