Reasons for Whitbread going and Ward staying

Zak is always injured, has never completed thirty league games fos us in a season, probably wanted bigger wages and Lambert wants to use those wages for other players.

Ward will probably only get a one year extension, he will get no increase in wages because he has no leverage to negotiate (mediocre performances), therefore Lambert will keep him as a fourth choice back up until we get an extra centre half in to replace Whitbread/Barnett who are both supposedly on bigger wages.

That's my theory anyway.

Good luck to Zak who was our best performing CB this season along with an out of position Russell Martin, it's a shame we're not keeping him because on his day he was unbeatable while he was consistently more than adequate. His performance against Chelsea at home was a particular highlight.

Good luck to Wilbraham as well, he gave absolutely everything he had despite limited ability, nobody can take that goal at Fulham and performance against Tottenham away from him.
