Defence
Soooooo many sloppy goals given away this season. Definitely need an overhaul during the Summer. Ward is simply not good enough at this level. Bennett does not appear to be good enough at the moment and I do not see as a regular starter next season. He loses his man all the time - a simple bit of movement and the opposition striker's away.
I think Ayala and Whitbread are good enough but both are injury prone. Barnett out of favour so looks like he's on his way out. I think we need one top quality centre back to play alongside Whitbread or Ayala, with the other as back up with Bennett.
Full-backs wise, Drury probably too old now so let his contract run out. Russell Martin is good back up at RB and CB but I don't see as a regular starter. I think we need 1 x starting RB and 1 x starting LB with Martin and Tierney as back up. Could do with a player that can play either FB position too as additional back-up.
It's so frustrating watching us concede awful goals that could easily be prevented.
