I think....

It's Lambert's fault. He started playing 1R up front on his own without any wingers and without Wes to link the central midfield. As a result, 1R kept going wide to get the ball rather than stay central.

To get the best from 1R, Lambert needs to go back to getting him to stay central and to give him the service he needs.
