Depends what's available

We have scored quite a lot of ghouls. Really, I thought this would be our biggest weakness but it really hasn't been.

We have conceded quite a lot of ghouls. But for one reason or another our best back four never seems to play. We have five or six defenders who are quite clearly - even in selwynesque terms - "good enough". And if they ever get to play together for an extended period, would actually be "quite good".

Our midfield has some real class and also some journeymen from whom Lambert seems to exact more than they have. If that makes sense.

All in all, with The Alchemist in charge, our current strikers are good enough, our current midfield is good enough, our current defenders are good enough, at this level.

So for me it boils down to, what's available at a price we can afford - one thing we know, it won't be an "obvious" buy, and Lambert will bring, say, five in, of whom three will shine, and neither he nor we will really know which three before, say, November.

Interesting no-one is questioning our resources between the sticks. I hope we can hang on to all of Ruddy, Rudd and Steer because I think all three are really quite good.
