Check with the Exchange administrator whether your Exchange password expired. Sometimes
that can cause a whole load of trouble because of synch issues etc. Had it on my laptop earlier this year. And my iPhone was eating the entire battery charge within an hour because it was constantly trying to reach the Exchange server with the old credentials.
Another thing might have been if they had put on the setting to force a strong password for the iPhone / iPad before allowing you to use Exchange mail. Then you need to set a strong passcode and maybe to reduce the screen lock timeout (to the minimum - also a setting they can enforce on the Exchange server) before it will allow access.
But I doubt that is the issue, as then it wouldn't give you any trouble from the Mac.
