I think so, yes

there've been a couple of occasions over the years when I've suspected that my PC was infected despite receiving all-clears from antivirus and firewall scans. The suspicion in each case was triggered by seeing my tray icon showing activity when there shouldn't have been any. And on both occasions I turned out to be correct.
