no, SLR's...
were semi-automatic, but you could get a few off in a couple of seconds.... the SA80 had an automatic setting but you'd soon get through a full magazine in about 20 seconds.....
decades later, when on stag weekends that go paint balling, you can tell the ex-forces guys who NEVER run out of ammo, and are vey selective of when and what to go for....
