The thing about Birmingham is that there are very few pubs right in the very centre.
Bacchus on New Street is a good one, and is close to the station. Look it up on google maps, but it's in the basement of the building when you get there.
The bull ring has yer usual shopping mall type eateries.
Heading NW, Newhall Street has some more upscale bars/restaurants. Further NW is St Paul's square, which has restaurants and such round a pretty church. S'nice.
