we have better players than in 2003/4
(with the exception of Francis - this team has no central midfielders who make runs into the box). But that team was mind-numbingly fortunate in its ability to win games without playing the better football. This team has frequently had games where we have created way more chances than the opposition but haven't won (because we missed loads of chances and the opposition have managed to nab one of their few). Just goes to show that in a results driven world this team is seen as crap and that one as great (even though that one rarely played decent football for more than 10 minute spells). The real issue with this team is not that it is worse than the 2003/4 team (it isn't really) but why it isn't better, given the improved financial position of the club (this team has a ?3m striker though you'd never know it). Oh, and yes the manager IS a bit of a dullard.
