You may be right - that's Marketing though!

I don't have an iPod (yet), but I use iTunes and it's a doddle to use and, I believe, as simple as pressing a button to sync with an iPod. Playing with a mate's iPod, the scroll wheely thingy is really easy to use too.

Heard good things about the Sony though.
