Olsen wants to drop Helveg but wants an excuse for doing so. So when Norwich don't pick him, Olsen says "if he's not playing in the first team it will damage his international career and he should move" - meaning "this gives me an excuse to drop him". Then Worthy starts picking him, so Olsen has to wait till we're relegated, and then says "if he's not playing in a top division it will damage his international career", meaning "I every much doubt that he'll find another team in a top division so now I can drop him"
