I was only about 12 at the time.

Very unusual to have a League Cup game on a Saturday. Felt like a league match. I was in the little terrace paddock at the front of the Pioneer Stand (as it was called then) with my dad. The noise from the City in the North Stand to my left was incredible. One of the most intimidating atmosphere's I've ever experienced at a football match. Don't remember much about the game other than we should have lost by more than 1-0 and fights were breaking out around me all the time. Remember more about the 2nd leg, what with the huge pitch invasion and that c**t Terry Butcher putting his foot through the changing room door in frustration at the end. Happy days.....
