The sad truth is Lambert will probably be off in the next 18 months regardless of

what happens this january or indeed in the summer because he is a top manager and sooner or later he will feel he needs to be at a bigger club.

Whilst, therefore, i agree that we should do all we reasonably can to keep him and back him financially we clearly cannot just completely throw caution to the wind and abandon the wage structure. McNally does need to keep half an eye on the bigger picture.
