England's problem...

(apart from the fact that 1st choice back up in almost every position is rubbish) is that while the players are OK (if not as great as English media hype would have you believe) the mix in midfield is all wrong. There is still no left-sided player, and Beckham, Lampard & Gerrard are all basically the same player. Workmanlike, decent shot/pass, but no pace or the ability to dribble past so much as a traffic cone. No wonder we look so pedestrian. For all the slagging off Sven gets no manager could make this bunch play slick, exciting football. Drab but very-hard-to-beat is the best you're going to get, and that worked OK for Greece & Liverpool in very recent memory. Don't see what alternative we have without putting in players who aren't up to it...
