I would agree with Ralf

A Squeezebox Boom would be a good option - you can stream lossless files such as FLAC or Ape, as well as mp3s. It's got a built in pair of speakers, and the sound quality is very good in lossless.

A Squeezebox Duet would be a very good option, but you would need to connect it to an amp and speakers - but might be a good solution if you want to play vinyl as well.

I've also got a Squeezebox Classic - an excellent solution for me as I use my iPod Touch plus iPeng as a remote. That way I can see colour album art, select albums via touchscreen etc.
