He's aware, quite rightly, that he was a far better commentator than Motson - but there's no bitterness at all at some pretty atrocious treatment from his paymasters.

Davies was a great commentator; one of the old school. Motson was very good up until the early 90s (often brilliant during the 80s), whereupon Rory Bremner started sending him up, and Motty turned into this awful, embarrassing caricature of himself. Should've been pensioned off by 2002 at the latest.
