Some thoughts on last night

Great game but can't deceide if was a point gained or two points lost. At the end we were holding on but to be honest until the last ten minutes I didn't really think they caused us many problems and we really should have been 2 or 3 up and out of sight after half an hour. Blatant penalty from Surman's second header, the Mozza header was a sitter and also had he got his shot away when one on on I think he would have scored as well. Goven this I think it has to go down as a big opportunity missed.

Other points:

1. Whitbread was good again.

2. Surman and Wes were excellent. Having been accused of "scapegoating" Surman on Monday I have to say that was possibly his best ever game for us and if he can keep that standard up then he is deserving of a place in the team. Maybe he is just a player who needs to get a few games under his belt before hitting top form. I though second half Wes was magnificent. They couldn't get near him at times.

3. Crofts was poor. I also thought he was poor at Everton. If there are changes for the Spurs game then he may be the one to make way.

4. Mozza was certainly a real handful again but their CBs did actually cope well in the air against them. I actually thought Mozza should have gone off instad of Holt as he looked knackered but shows what i know!

5. I don't understand:
(i) why Pilks now can't get on the pitch. Second half when we were playing on the break I thought it might have been ideal for him; an
(ii) Why Lambert always takes off Fox and/or Wes. He seems to do this to try and tighten the game up but it always has the opposite effect as we are no longer able to retain possession and start hoofing it straight back to the opposition. I thought this was really evident last night after Wes went off.

6. Wolves are bang average. They were there for the taking last night and had we got the second goal we should have got then we would have taken them. Jarvis aside they have no real creativity in the midfield and I am pretty confident we will beat them at Carrow Road.
