well

if the information is presented like this:

every man in the village either

a) shaves himself
b) is shaved by the barber

and if the barber lives in the village, then the information is wrong as it doesn't take into account the fact that the barber falls into both categories.

You could adjust the statements to

a) shaves himself
b) is shaved by the barber
c) a+b

or

a) isn't shaved by the barber
b) is shaved by the barber

but i think the best answer is to say that the original statement is impossible, unless maybe the barber is a woman.
