have you left a CD, disk or USB drive plugged in?

(I'm not making out you're a bit dim - but this is the most common cause)

If not, then boot into the recovery mode from the CD.

once you got the command prompt then run:

fixmbr

then

fixboot

That usually sorts it, no need for reformatting etc, no data loss either.
