Theoretically I think the law should be applied, but in this case it would seem pragmatic to find another solution as integration into the community seemed to be well under way. Turfing them out will only lead to further problems in the future.

I think the racism element refers to the likelyhood of a planning application from the travelling community being approved by the council, and all the HOORAY, FUCK OFF PIKIES reaction
