If it was me, I'd get a linux unbuntu cd

not to put linux on, but because it would boot your pc up, and on low resource would load up linux from the cd, allowing you the opportunity to try linux as a demo before installing it on your hard drive

You would say no, and it would allow your computer to restart and load up windows again

The linux cd would automatically check some parts of your computer for you, and may fix a small probably in the boot.

I know that's all over your head and you've no idea what I'm on about. But the main point is, you need something to boot your hard drive, and usually a cd does that. But I'm guessing you don't have a boot cd either :)
