The going out for beers mid tournament says a lot to me

I remember when our cricket team was like that - "it's all part of the culture", "doesn't affect our performances", "good for team spirit".

The Management(tm) put a stop to all that and we've done rather well since then.

I don't think we've the players to be a top footy team and I don't know enough about rugby to know if we could be a top rubgy team - but I do know we'll do a whole lot better if the players behave like professional athletes and look after their bodies accordingly.
