Something interesting happened on the way to the Premier League.
I think most people thought we would struggle defensively in the PL. I know I did.
I was personally worried about our back 4 before the season started.
Yet what has happened, maybe by a combination of injuries, mistakes and the good play we have a unit of.......
----------------------Ruddy-------------------
Naughton------R Martin-----Barnett------Tierney
----------------Fox-------Johnson----------------
Which has looked incredibly solid in the last 3 games.
Even the great Sir Alex praised this unit today and said how incredibly difficult it was for his superstar front line who has smashed many a team this season, to break them down.
Now if all we did was defend for a 0-0 then it would be cause for concern but we did create some great chances on the counter.
The fact is we havnt been outplayed in any game but what is encouraging is I feel Lambert is starting to find his best team (even if its by accident in the case of R Martin at CB)
I think some of the front 4 players have lacked a little composure but that is to be expected as Wes is about the only player who has played in front of big crowds before on a regular basis.
I have the feeling as Morison, Bennet and Pilkington gain experience and are more relaxed they will have a little more composure in front of goal.
