I quite like the Civil Service, however a recent story made me grimace
My friend's wife is taking a 5 year career break. At the end of it she has to go back for at least one month or forfeit her maternity pay. However, a colleague pointed out that she would accrue holiday and therefore could take the entire month off. Oh yes, and of course she'll get paid for the month's work too.
(Disclaimer: my friend told me this so I can't vouch for its absolute veracity)
