I placed this bet but it was for my brother

He was absolutely skint, spent all his cash on music equipment and cigarettes and rang me up on the Friday before the FA Cup semi final to bet on a 3-1 win. He wanted me to bet ?5, and in those days ?5 was worth quite a bit more than it was now. I was tempted to not place the bet and give him the ?5 back telling him to not to be so silly.

I decided to go ahead with the bet and did it in Brentwood, Ladbrokes (I think)

Matt used to be a Norwich fan but defected to Spurs as he was going out with a girl from a family of Spurs season ticket holders, but to be fair to him he hadn?t paid much interest in City?s fortunes for quite a while.

And the game was the FA Cup semi final Apr 1991 and he won around ?180 from the bet and it really baled him out of a financial hole.

I think when it was 3-1 and one of the teams hit the bar from a good chance very near the end.
