The trade-off with not having signed the usual long list of failures

Is that these guys need time to adjust to the Premier League - if they can. Time, unfortunately, is at a premium, BUT they're young and hellaciously motivated and have everything to prove, to themselves and others.

On the bright side, they're not the same players which keep proving they aren't quite good enough and keep being signed by promoted sides and repeating the failure, again and again.

I know which players I'd rather see.

It's a point. It's a start. All of them will have learned from today - including the manager.
