It was alright thanks ...
the surface was quite good, which helped as the missus only has a racing bike (she's too stingy to buy a mountain bike!) so she was worried about punctures etc, which meant we didn't go far from the track and it didn't take as long. I'm trying to sort her a second hand one so we can go on more varied/rougher tracks in the future.
Didn't go into Sheffield as we stopped at Newark, Mansfield and Chesterfield on the way up, ate in Chesterfield that night (Buckinghams hotel) expensive but well worth the gourmet experience! Headed to Bakewell, Matlock etc in the morning.
Thanks very much for the info. We're off to Uppingham Morcott next Thursday (another ?10 stay in a Travelodge) so will do round Rutland Water and possibly some golf.
